There are two organization I am fortunate to be a part of- Helpful Hands and Hearts AND Heart Pet Rescue.

Helpful Hands and Hearts is a fantastic group of people building wheelchair ramps for residents of the 5 counties surrounding Lake Gaston. All of the ramp team members are volunteer and the ramps are built at no cost to the recipient. There is also a great group of volunteers who offer rides to “friends” who need transportation to appointments or shopping.  The rides are also at no cost to the recipient. As with most non-profits, they operate solely off of grants and donations. If you are looking for a great organization for donation or volunteer opportunities, look no further!

Heart(Heaven and Earth Animal Rescue Team)Pet Rescue is a wonderful group of volunteers taking special care of our less fortunate furry friends under 20 pounds. These small dogs are often from shelters, hoarding situations or puppy mills. Many are traumatized and scared. Being a foster for these tiny dogs has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have fostered for HEART for more than 20 years. It is amazing to watch a scared, tiny dog learn day by day that not all humans are bad. Once they are ready, they are placed in loving and safe home. This is also a great organization for donation and volunteer opportunities.
